Paine's letter to Henry Laurens (1779 Jan 17). "... it is my design to publish all my political and other writings in two volumes and to set a ... price on them ... tho' I have yet published, to the public gratis, yet no gentleman will expect that I should give away in volumes." He also writes about the letter of Mr. Gerard to the Continental Congress to which Paine took exception and his apprehension of being asked to submit to censure.
